QuickPeer: A P2P Framework for Distributed Application Development

چکیده
Recently P2P computing has attracted lots of attention from both the distributed computing community and millions and millions of Internet users. This paper describes a pure P2P file sharing system, QuickPeer, which is originally designed to satisfy the requirement for a graduate computer science course. Our QuickPeer system is not only a P2P application, but also a software framework for distributed application development.

Building Latency-aware Overlay Topologies with QuickPeer
This work presents a gossip-based protocol, termed QuickPeer, which builds and maintains latency-aware overlay topologies. Such topologies are useful for several distributed applications, like distributed online gaming, context-aware P2P applications and QoS-aware publish/subscribe systems. The distinctive feature of QuickPeer is that it can manage large scale overlay topologies providing each ...

Peer-to-peer applications (P2P) are no longer limited to home users, and start being accepted in academic and corporate environments. While file sharing and instant messaging applications are the most traditional examples, they are no longer the only ones benefiting from the potential advantages of P2P networks. For example, network file storage, data transmission, distributed computing, and co...
متن کاملG2-P2P: A Fully Decentralised Fault-Tolerant Cycle-Stealing Framework
Existing cycle-stealing frameworks are generally based on simple client-server or hierarchical style architectures. G2:P2P moves cycle-stealing into the “pure” peer-to-peer (P2P), or fully decentralised arena, removing the bottleneck and single point of failure that centralised systems suffer from. Additionally, by utilising direct P2P communication, G2:P2P supports a far broader range of appli...
متن کاملToward a Quality-of-Service Framework for Peer-to-Peer Applications
P2P networks have caught the imagination of the research community and application developers with their sheer scalability and fault-tolerance characteristics. However, only content-sharing applications based on the P2P concept have reached the desired level of maturity. The potential of the P2P concept for designing the next-generation of real-world distributed applications can be realized onl...
متن کاملCooperation strategies for agent-based P2P systems
We are interested in peer-to-peer (P2P) computing, where a P2P application consists of a (wireless) network of nodes (peers), and assumes full peer autonomy, no global control, and intermittent connectivity. P2P computing has many advantages over classical client-server and web-based distributed architectures. However, the P2P computing model also has a number of limitations in the mechanisms i...
